Pitch the content to the average knowledge of your audience.
Tell a story with a beginning, middle and end…
…and first tell your audience what you’re going to tell them. Then tell them.
Keep on screen text super short and use powerful imagery.
Engage your audience eg: “Hands up if you’ve…”, “Everyone new this year, stand up and take a bow…”
Use appropriate humour.
Stress test the tech and practice in the actual setting.
Summarise and leave with a call to action.
Some folk can take to the stage without second thought. Most can’t – so practice, practice and practice.
